Setting: A hot, 112 °F, 15% RH summer day in Sacramento, CA. Two people approach each other on the street. They exchange pleasantries, remarking on how much they love the heat because no one’s out, most of the college students are gone, and you basically get the whole city to yourself. One of these people is me and the other is you. Our conversation continues:
Me: “You should get a Life Activation”
You: “What’s that?”
Me: “It’s a healing that helps you change your life.”
You: “‘Healing?’ Sounds too woo for me.”
Me: “Y‘know, it sounded pretty woo to me too, but hear me out.”
You: Nods
Me: “If you don’t want to change your life, this is not the healing for you. It could make you feel sick. It could make you feel woozy. It could ruin your life.
“If you do want to change your life, the Life Activation could help. After the healing, you might feel elated and light or peaceful, but you also might feel nothing at all. It will, however, help you change your life. You’ll still have to take responsibility for your life and do all the hard work yourself. Nothing woo about it. The healing session is $250.”
You: “That is an awful sales pitch. You’re asking me to pay $250 for something that could help, but I still have to do all the work to change. Isn’t that the same as nothing at all?”
Me: “Correct. Like I said, you shouldn’t get this healing if you don’t want to change.”
You: “So why bother?”
Me: “If you want to change, from my own experience and seeing how it’s affected other people, you might start to see opportunities you might have previously missed or you might even develop a different outlook on life. You’ll still have to do all the work, but you could also see what to do more readily and/or be more inclined to do the work.
“For example, I had wanted to buy a house for a long time and had the funds to do so, but had been putting it off for several years. Then, I got a Life Activation. A few months later, my landlord threatened to evict me, so I decided to buy a house. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now I’m thinking it probably wasn’t a coincidence.
You: “Huh!”
Me: “Yeah, I’d try it just for science’s sake.”
You: “All right, it’s been nice catching up with you! Talk to you later!”
Me: “Yep. Well, here’s my business card if you’re interested.”
